I agree, Reno’s overnight/next day distribution to the 11 western states remains a strong factor for relocations.

But what will this mean in the long term?

Tom;

Thank you for your inspiring article. Nowadays, it's imperative that we focus on the highest level of service to our customer base. I have worked for an organization that was very committed to surveying their customers in the form of an anonymous survey letter after the transaction was completed. It gave our customers an even greater opportunity to share their honest comments with the company. The comments were sometimes brutal but we had a chance to really examine the way that we provided customer service.

Your article also reminded me of another company who set the pace for great customer service in the retail industry. When I lived in Seattle, shopping at Nordstrom was always a great experience. They were so focus on delighting their customers that I eventually eliminated their competition from my shopping trips.

Let's make NPS part of our regular vocabulary.

Hmmm...

Comments of op/ed news pieces are opinionated by nature, due to the subjection of whatever issue the writer is tackling.

For me, I agree that we take far too much for granted, and compared to other civilizations are extremeley technologized, coporatized, protected with domestic and forieng issues, choose our own lines of work, and our own religous freedom.

Freedom of Religion does provide the right to believe in whatever Gods or Goddess, sect, cult, belief system, but politically when the forefathers invented much of the early constitutions/laws they believed in a Supreme Being, but many like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were against the institution of the Church, after being "persecuted" for not believing in the Rule of King George the ?
So, I agree with the writer that George Bush is not solely to blame for everything, plus, we had to wake up our own selves politically in these last eight years and decide what we want and don't want.
But we are spoiled, very spoiled.
And so often we ask not what we can do for our country, but what our country can do for us, and in many truths, our taxes pay into something already, and it's socialist by nature, it is the United States Government, those who Represent US in Washington, so
Barrack Obama is cheering people up but will the emotional level fall? Will people all around the world question Obama's health care, tax policy, energy policy, military policy? Will he be hunting, playing golf, at Camp David while we're working our 9-? jobs, busting our but to pay for most of the military expenditures, the Wall Street Bailout, non-violent drug users, paying for our courthouses, elections.

If you are not a Christian, who cares? It's very probable that Barrack Obama thinks outside the box spiritually, and he doesn't just ascribe to one religion. Everyone was falsely tainting him with this Muslim image, when he's far from the accepted faiths of the masses. There are so many various influences for faith on this planet, East, West, all over the above.
Go for it and plant a seed and it will grow!

Tom
good thoughts on the Net Promoter Score. I've been using it for four years in many different organisations, and we've not failed to see significant improvements in customer service.

If the entire organisation understands Net Promoter Score (and it's not difficult!) you can actually change a company culture to become more customer focused.

It's possible to start measuring it manually and with a spreadsheet to graph it. Any small business can do it. After a while you want to invest in specialist tools like CustomerGauge to help but the first steps are most important.

Finally, you may find this "2 minute guide to Net Promoter" in cartoon format interesting... http://customergauge.com/wordpress/?p=42
